H&H Sculptors were commissioned to create twenty-three realistic figures of British soldiers to bring to life some of the tunnels and chambers carved out of the Rock during the Second World War. To withstand the damp conditions boots were cast in resin and the uniforms were resin impregnated before being painted realistically. With a long history of designing exhibitions in Gibraltar, H&H Design were engaged as consultants on the poses of the figures and the layouts of the tableaux.
For the recent redesign of the main gallery of this regimental museum situated in central London, H&H Sculptors were asked to recreate two new scenes of soldiers in action. The first depicts a famous incident in the regiment’s history that took place during the Battle of Waterloo. This involved major modifications to one of our standard horses – including some new sculpted sections. The second tableau was set in Afghanistan and showed soldiers discovering an IED.
H&H Sculptors were selected to create two types of specialist figures for the museum’s large new gallery dedicated to the development of aerial warfare during the First World War. Greyscale figures sculpted in realistic poses needed to be placed in the suspended aircraft and similar looking figures were specified for the textile conservation grade figures displaying items of uniform in the showcases. An additional problem with the showcase figures was that in some cases the museum did not have the complete uniform and so we were requested to sculpt the missing items.
H&H Design were commissioned by the Medieval Trust to design an exhibition about the history of this late medieval tower in central Dublin. Visitors pass through the exhibition both on their way up to the viewing platform at the top and again when they descend. H&H Sculptors provided 3D elements for the displays including a stone mason’s arms and a model of the church as it looked in the 17th century.
